In a bid to enhance urban quality and ensure a smoother travel experience, Harbin has initiated comprehensive upgrades of 48 roads in preparation for the 9th Asian Winter Games, which are scheduled to be held in the city in 2025.
The renovations focus on key streets connecting competition venues, player accommodations, airports, and stations, including Chengxiang Road, Binjiang Street and Hongqi Avenue.
The construction emphasizes integrated enhancements in six areas: roadways, sidewalks, traffic facilities, static traffic, road functions, and landscaping.
The goal is to provide comfortable driving conditions, seamless pedestrian flow, orderly parking, and aesthetically pleasing streetscapes, ultimately improving the city's overall image and quality. The renovations are expected to be completed by the end of October.
