Harbin, China, April 13, 2024: On the occasion of the 300-day countdown to the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, the organising committee opened the first official merchandise store on Saturday, April 13.

As well as the inauguration of this first merchandise store in Harbin, the local organisers also started online sales of merchandise to promote the 9th AWG from February 7-14, 2025.

The Deputy Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, Mr. Vinod Kumar Tiwari, attended the celebrations, which will also include an evening ceremony to mark the 300-day countdown to the opening of the 9th AWG.

“This is a very significant milestone for the organising committee of the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China in February 2025,” Mr. Tiwari said.

“The inauguration of this first official merchandise store and the start of online sales of merchandise shows that the preparations are in full swing, especially on the promotions side.

“In January, the OCA Coordination Committee visited Harbin for the first time for the 9th Asian Winter Games and witnessed the unveiling of the mascots, emblem and slogan. Today’s events are another big step forward on the road to Harbin 2025.”

Mr. Tiwari said he was confident that the cute Siberian tiger cub mascots, Binbin and Nini, would prove very popular with the locals and visitors alike, and that the striking emblem, in the shape of a short track speed skater, would also be a dynamic addition to the promotion and marketing of the Games.

“The mascots, emblem and slogan, in this case ‘Dream of Winter, Love among Asia’, will play a big part in spreading the message of the Asian Winter Games in Harbin city and throughout Heilongjiang province,” he added.

“Thanks to the experience and expertise of the Chinese sports authorities in hosting winter sports, the OCA, our National Olympic Committees and, most of all, our athletes can look forward to a top-class event next February – in 300 days’ time.”
