On February 19, Harbin held a meeting to promote the preparation work for the 9th Asian Winter Games. Yu Hongtao, member of the Standing Committee of the Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee and the Secretary of Harbin Municipal Party Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. Yu Hongtao emphasized that Harbin should study and implement President Xi Jinping’s speeches, the spirit of important instructions and statements on accelerating the construction of a leading sporting country, and understand the significance of running the Asian Winter Games well. We must shoulder the responsibility of the host city, pool the wisdom of all parties, make extraordinary contributions, anchor the target, break down the tasks, and accomplish them efficiently, making all the preparations practical and detailed.

Zhang Qixiang, Mayor of Harbin, made work arrangements. Guo Shunmin, Sun Yongwen, Zheng Guozhi, Li Mian, Luan Zhicheng, Lan Feng, Wang Tieli, Zhang Haihua, Feng Xin, Tan Lewei, Yin Xifeng attended the meeting.

The meeting pointed out that holding the Games in Harbin was a glorious mission entrusted to Harbin by the Party Central Committee and the State Council. It is a national and international event. The whole city should unify thoughts, raise awareness, and mind the top priorities of the country. We must thoroughly implement the statements and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council and the work requirements of Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee and governments, and further enhance the sense of responsibility, mission, and honor. In addition, it was necessary to grasp every detail of the tasks, and make the 2025 Asian Winter Games a high-level event with distinctive features.

The meeting stressed that it was imperative to highlight the focus of work and strictly follow the standards of the event; vigorously promote the construction and renovation of venues and other facilities, and actively carry out major activities; grasp the timeline, efficiently accelerate the improvement of the appearance of the city and enhance urban functions; continuously promote various themed publicity activities, and strive to “improve Harbin's image through hosting the Asian Winter Games”. We should highlight the characteristics of Harbin, showcase the charisma of the Ice City through ice culture, music, European style and green ecology, to welcome visitors from all over the world with a good city image. It was needed to implement the integrated working mechanism that "Executive Committees lead and supervise, and Harbin municipal departments come to report", so as to further carry out responsibilities, coordinate, and strengthen the services. In this way, we must build a safety bottom line, complete the preparation work on schedule with high quality and efficiency, and ensure a simple, safe, green and wonderful sports event.

The meeting was held in the form of a video conference, and each district and county set up a sub-site.
